I didn’t pay much attention when the name T Harv Eker pop up in my search engine from time to time. I thought I have quit the business guru fans club after attending Robert Kiyosaki‘s 2-hour session last year.harveker

I couldn’t remember seeing any T Harv Eker materials on my Facebook.  Until one day, I saw Mindvalley Academy posted a Free Masterclass by T Harv Eker that relates to identifying your money blueprint.

I must say I have a good impression of Mindvalley having previously signed up for Unlimited Abundance, an energy clearing program by Christie Marie Sheldon. It was pretty good.

I thought T Harv Eker was just another business guru. And I wonder what he’s doing in the spiritual business?

That was the first time I heard of the term “Spiritual Millionaire”.

So I clicked and register for the free masterclass (knowing it will lead to the promotion of one of his program)

If you have missed out my previous post on Nick Vujicic, check this out What I learned from Nick Vujicic in 90 minutes.

I thought I would find it a waste of time…

I went through the 2 hours free masterclass session viewing some clips of T Harv Eker talking about the failures that he had to endure and how miserable it felt chasing for money senselessly for 10 years without any success.

And beaten and broken by failure, he eventually retreated to a Zen temple, seeking the spiritual path. While journeying on the spiritual path brings him peace, that was not what he wanted either. ( I could almost relate to his situation at this point)

He talked about finally realizing that it is possible to have BOTH spiritual and material wealth to coexist in harmony in life. And it is with this mindset that he proceeds on to start a business that eventually made his first million dollars.

I was half convinced that he has something to offer that is different from other speakers in this niche. I thought it’s worth trying signing up for his program The Spiritual Laws of Money since MindValley is offering a 30 days money back guarantee.

And so I signed for it.

It’s a series of 2-hour courses to be completed in 8 weeks. (If I am not happy, I could get a refund by week 4.)

Here’s what I learned after 5 Weeks into the program

Yup. I did not ask for a refund.

Because amidst all the hype of Law Of Attraction and programs on manifesting abundance, T Harv Eker goes right into business with this sentence that resounds strongly with me.

“Abundance Is Your Birthright, Wealth Is Not”

abundance-315443_1280

Wait, isn’t that the same thing?

But it seems not, according to T Harv Eker.

You can have your abundance in the mental, emotional or spiritual aspect of your side. But if you want abundance in the physical world (wealth), then you need to take PHYSICAL action for it to materialize as physical wealth.

As contrary to some speakers continuously preaching of positive visualization, T Harv Eker stressed that you wouldn’t get far by mere visualization alone. It takes consistent concrete action to actually bringing dreams to reality.

What? No get rich quick secret?

Definitely a great disappointment to those who are expecting a quick route to wealth and success. There are no hints of any short-cut to success 5 weeks into the program.

Instead, T Harv Eker sounds like a badass coach, talking about accountability and how hard we have to work at least in the first 5 years if we are to create any worthwhile business that will bring us wealth.

“Is money good or evil”?

A very interesting question that I first encountered in depth when I was doing a course by Christie Marie Sheldon, Unlimited Abundance.

This is a common belief that has been programmed in our subconscious mind during our years growing up. “Money is greed“, “money is the root of evil“, “rich people robs the money from the poor” or similar thoughts could be the exact mental block that prevented wealth coming your way.

But T Harv Eker made it clearer and take it further by stating that money is NEITHER good nor evil.

He gave a perfect analogy by comparing money to hammer used by a carpenter. A hammer is neither good nor evil. It is just a tool which a carpenter can use to build or destroy.

Likewise, money is just a tool for us to trade within our daily life. The abundance of wealth gives us options that are not available to us when we are barely making a living.

A simple concept that makes perfect sense, and yet could have been our subconscious block for decades that limits our progress in building wealth.

Earn, Keep, and Grow

cash-1169650_1280I have one friend that told me that we often pay to learn what we already know. Well, perhaps she’s right in this sense. Sometimes we accumulated loads of garbage that has piled over our common sense.

It’s getting back to basics with T Harv Eker. There’s no fancy strategic planning or tactics but it’s all about discipline and methods that made logical sense.

For instance, “What do you do when you don’t have enough money to save?”

Earn more or reduce your expenses. Basic common sense practice and yet we see so many people going into debt.

One of the reasons that made me continue with this program is that T Harv Eker does not encourage reckless decision making.

Some business gurus would have gladly shouted “Do what you love. Quit your job“. But T Harv Eker would go “Create wealth by doing what you love. But make a transition from your present state“.

The 6 Jars For Personal Money Management

piggy-bank-968302_1920With T Harv Eker, it’s all about balance. You can’t spend all your money on yourself. Yet if you deprive yourself of enjoying your the earning, you may soon find all your motivation draining away. So what’s the best solution?

He suggested in dividing earnings into 6 accounts as follow :

a) Financial Freedom Account – This is the account that is to help you becomes financially free. You can invest but NEVER allowed to spend it.

b) Long Term Saving For Spending – If you are eyeing for the latest smartphone that you can’t afford, this is where you need to save.

c) Education – Learning is for life. You save for your continuous education here.

d) Necessity – This is what goes for your day to day expenses, our mortgage, rent, food, bills, etc

e) Play – This is where you splurge and be crazy about it.

f) Gift Account – Give back to a charity or any cause that you believe in.

He even suggested a certain ratio for the earning to be placed into the accounts as a start. Of course, the whole 6 Jars System is explained in a more detailed manner in the program.

While some may argue that similar methods exist, going into this program with T Harv Eker is about accountability and a coach on your back.

“Money Doesn’t Make You Happy”

man-person-people-emotionsThis is one topic that makes T Harv Eker goes ballistic. If anything, there’s never a dull moment in his course.

This is another one popular lie or misguided beliefs that are trapped in most of our subconscious mind.

While it is true that money does not make you happy, having very little of them in your bank doesn’t bring a smile to your face either.

At the other end, we have people chasing career or business success to find happiness.

T Harv Eker hits the right spot when he said that money has nothing to do happiness. In fact, they should not be linked together in the first place.

You can be happy or unhappy with or without being rich.

 Mantras

I thought T Harv Eker must be right out of his head when he starts giving out homework in the form of mantra chanting.

It’s like taking medicine 3 times a day but only in the form of reciting something like “I am a spiritual millionaire”, I create wealth doing what I love” or “I am happy and rich” 3 times a day.

He said it’s about how committed we are with our goal. If we couldn’t even do such a simple thing, then what hope do we have of being successful. I see the logic in that but I suspect there’s even more to it.

I was right two weeks into the program doing this mantra thing.

You see, our life has been a result of our routine, belief, thoughts, and action. If we are to continue to do the same thing, then we would get the same result.

The practice of doing this mantra is to create a disturbance in our thought and routine. Because change happened when the old familiar routine breaks.

The result, I found myself snapping out of negative thoughts before it brought me into a spiral fall.

3 More Weeks Of Coaching, Visualization, and more Mantras.

Did I mention that each of his courses ends with his infamous 2 Path Visualization exercise? It’s a powerful exercise that guides you to invoke your emotion as you visualize the pathway to two extreme choices. It made you remember what it feels like if you are to choose the lesser of the path. It’s a very good motivational push to work harder and be committed to the training and progress in life.

I’m definitely looking forward to the 3 weeks left of lesson from T Harv Eker’s program, The Spiritual Laws of Money. Till now, I’m pretty convinced that T Harv Eker has something unique to offer to me with his series of courses. When I’m done with that, I will be checking his book, Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind
